Hollinwood railway station opened on 17 May 1880[1] and was situated in the Hollinwood area of Oldham, in Greater Manchester, England. The station was 7 km (4½ miles) north east of Manchester Victoria on the Oldham Loop Line operated and managed by Northern Rail.

The station was next to the M60 motorway Manchester Outer Ring Road which was constructed across part of the former station site. As a consequence of this the station was rebuilt by the Highways Agency in the 1990s[2].

The station closed for the conversion of the line to Metrolink on 3 October 2009 and will re-open as Hollinwood Metrolink station by March 2012.

Service

On Monday to Saturday daytimes there was a half-hourly service from Hollinwood to Manchester Victoria southbound and Rochdale northbound. On Sundays there was an hourly service in each direction.
